Search Tips
When searching the database for FAQs, there are many options you can use to bring back the results you need.
Single Keyword Search:
If you want to search for a single keyword, simply enter that word into the Keywords search box and push the Search FAQs button. For example, entering the word people into the keyword search box would return all of the FAQs that had the word "people" in them.
Multiple Keyword Search:
If you want to search for multiple keywords, there are a variety of options you may use to do so. The easiest option is to simply place more than one keyword into the Keyword search box. For even more control over the results, you may add one or more of the following:
OR ( | ): If you want to search for multiple words within an FAQ, separate each word with a '|' (pipe) or a ' ' (blank space.) This will search the database for each of the words separately and return all faqs that contain any of the words entered. For example, entering "call | PCS" would find all of the files that contained either the word "call" OR the word "PCS."
AND ( + ): If you want to narrow a search down, you can search using more than one keyword. To do this, separate the words with a '+' (plus) sign. This will search for the documents that include all of the words entered in the Keywords search box. For example, entering "call + PCS" would search for all of the documents that have both the words "call" AND "PCS" in them.
AND NOT ( - ): If you want to search for all FAQs that do not include a certain word, place a '-' (minus or dash) sign in front of the word you wish to exclude. For example, entering "call - PCS" would find all of the FAQs that had the words "call" in them AND NOT the word "PCS" in them.
Some additional notes: These commands may also be combined, but remember that the AND command always takes precidence over the OR command. Make sure that what you're typing in is what you really want. Parenthesis can be used in your search in the same way as you would use them in arithmetic. For example, entering "call | PCS + digital" will return the documents which have "PCS" AND "digital" in them, plus all of the documents that have "call" in them.
Parenthesis may change the order or operations. Entering "( call | PCS ) + digital" ** would return all of the files with "call" AND "digital" plus all the files with "PCS" AND "digital" in them. **Note that the parentheses must be set apart with spaces.
